San Diego Boudoir Photography Blog bio picture

Welcome to THE BOUDOIR DIVAS' San Diego Blog!

HI LADIES!!! THE BOUDOIR DIVAS SAN DIEGO (formerly known as WOMAN CAPTURED) is a full-service boudoir studio that has become Southern California's premier boudoir studio in just a few short years. We absolutely adore that our job allows women to do something a little out of their character and gives them the chance to feel like a SUPERMODEL for a day, with a gorgeous photo album as a lifelong token to cherish.

The Boudoir Divas San Diego is a studio made up of six fabulous women, and we absolutely have a blast working together. We'd all probably admit that we have a dream job, and we can't wait to share some of the fun with you. Visit our website for more info about our studio and your photo shoot! www.TheBoudoirDivas.com

Cadbury

If you were to hang out here in our offices and observe the daily happenings, here’s one random thing you might notice: we have a lot of nicknames. :) To make things easy, we’ve always used our first initials… so you’ll often see us refer to each other on Twitter or here on the blog by saying “A” – “D” – “M” – “C” – or “K”. And then there are the more random nicknames. For example, here are just a few of my nicknames through the years: Kimee (of course), K-dog, K-frog/K-froggie, KW, KDub, Kimee-cat… and then there’s my MOST recent nickname: “Cadbury.” Wondering how I got that one? Well, that one was actually given to me by a Parisian gal we met while sitting at a cafe. We were all sitting at this place in the St Germain district, and one friendly gal just walked up to our table and started chatting with us. We all introduced ourselves, and she had a fun association with everyone’s names… when Ashley introduced herself, this gal said: “Oh, like Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen!”… to Marissa she said “Oh, like from the OC”… and then as she was leaving, she went around the table and said, “Goodbye Weston, Marissa, Ashley, and Cadbury.” As she was walking away, we all looked at each other and started cracking up. Apparently “Kimberlee” sounded a lot like “Cadbury.” Funny thing is, Cadbury eggs used to be my favorite candy when I was a kid! Haha! So, the nickname has stuck, and around here, it wouldn’t be abnormal if you overheard someone say ‘Hey, Cadbury!’ So feel free to call me Cadbury the next time you see me. ;) Happy Wednesday, everyone! Hope you’re all having a wonderful week!

PS… We honestly can’t BELIEVE that we still haven’t posted pics from Paris. There are just SO many photos, & it’s such a huge project, that it just keeps getting pushed back (especially w/ all of our shoots, workshops, big projects, and speaking programs that we’ve got going on… the to-do lists just keep growing!) But in the meantime, here are a few random ones from one of our sight-seeing days in Paris:

Boudoir Divas Pin Up Parties are SO FUN!

Our whole staff has sooo much fun each time we hold a Pin Up Party at our studio. All of the girls attending have so much positive energy that it feels like it projects onto us! The ladies are all dolled up with hair, make-up, heels, and sexy outfits, and are having a great time with their friends. My favorite part of the day is when I hear the group watching a slideshow of images from one of the girls’ photo shoot. You can hear anything from squeals of excitement to “oohs and ahhs” or “you look HOT!” and “you look beautiful!” I smile every time. The Pin Up Party we held about two weeks ago was no exception to this. The ladies were gorgeous and super sweet. The hostess sent me a little thank you email the next day and I wanted to share it along with a couple of group photos… xoxo, Crystal

P.S. I would also like to shout out a big THANK YOU to our fabulous stylists Peggy Rogers and Christa Thorton from Elite Salon who did the hair and make-up for the  party!

Crystal,

Just wanted to thank you and your staff so much for the whole experience at our pin up party this past weekend (6/26/10). You ladies really made us feel comfortable and beautiful. All the girls were very pleased with everything from hair and make up to the actual photos. Can’t wait to see the final product!! Thank you again to you and your staff for a wonderful experience.

Kind Regards,

Kim F

Celebrate with a boudoir session {Happy 35th Birthday!}

Yesterday, I had the privilege of meeting this courageous, confident woman named Trisha. She traveled all the way from New York to get her boudoir session with our studio, and the best part: it was her birthday! I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than with a boudoir shoot! Trisha came in with some hot outfits, and some fabulous SHOES (my fave!). Once she arrived to the studio, she decided that she wanted to upgrade to our Supermodel Package (the top package)… which means she also gets a VIDEO of her photo shoot! She’s already agreed to let us use her images and her video on the blog, so I’ll definitely be posting those soon. But in the meantime, here’s a quick little message that Trisha wanted to share with all of you ladies out there who are thinking about booking a shoot with us. By the way… one of the perks of booking a shoot with our studio is the fact that you’ll be able to see your images on the SAME DAY, just one hour after your shoot! It’s so much fun to be able to have this amazing experience, and then view your images immediately afterward. During Trisha’s viewing, I just couldn’t help but smile, because all I could hear from the viewing room was ‘OhMyGosh’… ‘WOW’… over and over. There is nothing better than to know that I have been able to help a woman see herself in a new light, to help her gain a little extra confidence, and to show her that she is gorgeous! Thanks, Trisha, for celebrating your birthday with The Boudoir Divas, and thank you for trusting me as your photographer. You absolutely ROCKED your photo shoot, and I can’t wait for you to see the final result – with your album and with your Supermodel video! Happy Birthday! -Kimberlee

Position open here at The Boudoir Divas’ Studio

This is one of the hardest posts I have probably ever written on all our blogs. Crystal our studio manager will be leaving her normal duties for the fabulous gift of motherhood. Although we are so happy for her and hope that she will eventually still be able to be a part of the team in other smaller ways, it’s time to start the difficult task of trying to fill her shoes. Crystal thank you so much for lending us your talents to make our wonderful studio what it is today. Aside from your incredible photography talent, more than anything I am going to miss your dedication and fabulous work ethic. You were never afraid to get your hands dirty, and you never complained ever. I love your spirit and your attitude. You are a fab example of a team mate. Our days just won’t be the same without you and I hope we still see a lot of you.

With this change we are also looking to do a little bit of restructuring. The position that we will be looking to fill now is the studio concierge position as a trial that may last for a few months. If all goes well the new concierge we will be given more responsibility and a higher title. We ask that you email us your resume and tell us exactly why you are interested in this position and why you believe you would be a great candidate. Please note that this is not a photography position. The hours we be 30-40 hours per week and would vary based on the schedule. Our email address is sdstudio@theboudoirdivas.com. When you email us we will also provide you with a more detailed description of the position.

July 8, 2010 - 4:05 pm Pamela in STL - while it is bittersweet for the Boudoir Divas, what an awesome opportunity for another person. if i lived in Cali, i'd clean your lenses and change light bulbs. best of luck to crystal! and best of luck to the person that tries to fill your shoes!

July 9, 2010 - 9:59 am Diane Parker - I already sent an email to you!!! I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to work for the Boudoir Divas...it would be an honor! Please consider me...! :)

Let’s take it up another notch

and create even sexier, even more fashion forward images. Gone are the days when boudoir looked like it was shot in front of a backdrop. We want it to look like the boudoir photo was ripped right out of Vogue or Maxim. We are always striving to make sure our clients images are nothing but the best.

Right now I am having some fun working on our new “Set Menu” and I came across these images of Miss B. This pretty lady had her shoot a couple of weeks ago and she and I had so much fun creating this look. It is a variation on our “Fashion Loft” set and Lady B rocked it brilliantly and was so fun and easy to photograph. Thank you so much for giving us permission to share B.

Ladies what do you think? Are you loving this burlesque stage look? Do you want it for your boudoir photo shoot?

The package that Miss B got included an 8×8 Designer Bombshell Book, but she chose to swap it out for our 10×10 Art Book for no extra charge, and then she added spreads because (as I knew she would!) loved the photos and wanted more in her album and the Art Book is the best way to make that work.

Yes, we know it’s no longer Spring, but what the heck. We want to make our clients happy. So for now, the special stands :)

July 20, 2010 - 3:57 pm JP - I have a shoot next week and I would love to have this set! It's gorgeous, LOVE the colors.

Congrats Crystal!!!

So I was waiting to blog about it until I saw Crystal talk about it on Facebook. Because as we all know, once it’s on Facebook it’s officially world-wide public knowledge. She said this the other night on the FB, “felt baby kick/move last night while my hand was right next to him/her on my tummy…cannot stop thinking about it & smiling. Overjoyed.” We are too Crystal. We know that this baby will be beyond blessed with love and the true gift of having parents who love Him, our Lord. We love you and are so proud of you.

FYI: As I am sure you all know Crystal is our fabulous studio manager and photographer. She is probably the best studio manager on the planet. What in the heck are we going to do with ourselves without her???

Ps. Congrats to Mr. Carr as well. We didn’t forget you Brian ;)

July 28, 2010 - 11:44 am alicia - Crystal! I am so happy for you!

Boudoir is the new black!

Well, we’ve said it before and now we will say it again! Boudoir photography is the new black! ;) If the celebs are doing it then let the trend get even hotter. We are loving these Pin-Up pictures of Kate Hudson, Susan Sarandon, one of the Olsens (do you know which one that is below?) and Kate Walsh.  Thank you to INSTYLE Magazine for letting us know about Timothy White’s fab book, “Hollywood Pinups.” Looks like we are going to have to hit Barne’s and Noble for a copy for our boudoir boutique/waiting room. While girls wait for us to process their photos these images can  add even more anticipation to their “about to pee, I’m so excited, emotional” wait in our boutique.

Remember ladies, if you want to do a set that is Pin-Up, it’s all about the styling. Getting a  Pin-Up style photo shoot starts with Pin-Up styled outfit
and then  our make-up artist. Then bam, your hotter than even Dita Von Teese herself!

Which was recently duplicated by Lindsay Lohan…

Love this one and wanted to share it too…

Fit 2 Wed’s “ROCK YOUR DAY” event was awesome!

Hey everyone!
Just thought I’d share a little bit about the “ROCK YOUR DAY” event that we hosted here at the studio with Jessica Thomas of Fit 2 Wed! I am so glad that I was there; Jessica shared a TON of important info, and I left feeling inspired to do some new things for my health! (Top 2 things on my ‘health-to-do-list”: to start juicing again, and to pamper myself w/ an oatmeal bath once a week!) :) I was also able to share a few top tips on how to ROCK your wedding photos, with some simple posing tips for your wedding day (although these tips are actually great for you when you’re taking ANY photos, not just for your wedding). I’m thinking about possibly posting all of them online, if there’s enough interest – so let me know if you’d like to see those tips and I’ll share them here! Thanks so much, Jess, for sharing such awesome tips! And thanks to all of the ladies who were able to make it out to the event; it was wonderful to see you all there!
