Well, I suppose this post is a little late, but come on now, we were too busy making sure every client got thier gifts in time to wrap them and put them under the tree!  We hope you all had an amazing Christmas and an wish you joy in celebrating a brand new year. Let’s make it a good one!

I love Fridays at the office. Friday is the day that we are typically the busiest and it is when the entire staff is in the office at the same time. So there is a lot of hustle, bustle, teamwork and silly banter going on. A couple weeks ago Deena (Diva Photog and Designer) told us all that she was going to start making sure she appreciated every little detail in her life, and that every morning she was either going to tell us or email us three things she was grateful for. They could be big things or little silly things.

Deen has stuck too this somethin’ fierce and, not only am I proud and inspired by her, but she makes me smile everyday with her morning list. I wanted to share a few with you….

Deena we are so grateful for a friend and co-worker who is an amazing single mama, who works full time and never complains (even though she is completely allowed to), and is so giving of her love and time. You are the best!

Valentine’s Day is literally around the corner and chocolate is everywhere!  Which one to pick? Which one is going to be the most delicious and stand out when you give it as a gift?  Well, we have the answer! (in our personal opinion). :)  Chuao Chocolatier is an awesome local company with three stores in San Diego. For more convenience, they also have a great on-line store with every possible option of quality, yummy chocolate.  You can also see the packages they have specifically for Valentine’s Day.

Four years ago, I had a sales job at a local small business. I sold professional, wide-format printers and papers to photographers and other artists. My degree was a BA in Fine Art Photography, so I was glad that I was working a job that was at least in the photography industry. BUT, I missed being in a creative environment. I had loved all my art classes in college. We “critiqued” each other’s work and shared ideas for ways to improve or branch off on our work. I had been working with that company for just a couple months when I started to look for another job. I looked at numerous photography assistant type positions, but rarely applied to those. I applied to a bunch of art museum positions, design firms, etc. I prayed and prayed every night that God would lead me to the job that was right for me. After working there for a year, I decided that for the sake of my health and well-being, I needed to resign. I was really worried about quitting a job without having a new one, but couldn’t stand to work for those employers any longer. Three days later, I met Marissa and Weston Boucher.
They had posted a job on Craigslist. The job posting title was: “Studio Manager, Photographer, and Photoshop Extraordinaire.” I applied and they emailed me back asking me to come in for an interview.
If I remember right, I was their first interview of the day.. and they had at least 12 others! I carefully selected a trendy, yet professional outfit, and brought along a fresh copy of my resume and my portfolio of work. They later told me they were impressed at how organized and prepared I was. I left the interview trying not to let myself want the job as much as I really did. I had my fingers and toes all crossed! I wanted the job so bad! I prayed some more and then just asked God to let me let it go and trust that He would make it happen if it was meant to be. Just a few days later, Marissa called me and offered me the job. She said something like, “We would like to offer you the job, if you still want it.” I thought to myself, “If I still want it? Are you kidding?! Yes, I want it!!”
I started working for Boucher Photography & Woman Captured (our studio’s previous business name) two weeks after I had quit my previous job. God definitely had my back ;).
If someone had asked me to sit down a write a list of all the traits of my perfect job, it would read:
Creative environment, creative people, fun people, friends with co-workers (family-like isn’t even something I would think to be possible, but it is with this job), rewarding work, a place where I can utilize my various skills/talents (organization, photography, customer service), good company (a Mission Statement I believe in), Christian employers (that is not easy to find!), and the icing on the cake would be: cute, trendy attire!
I’ve been with The Boudoir Divas Studio for about three and a half years now. They consider me one of the “Founders” which I love :). Well, about a year ago, my husband and I felt it was time to have the “when to start a family” discussion and decided we felt ready to be open to the idea.. well, our little guy was born on November 24th and the whole process is such a miracle.

I just couldn’t “leave” without writing my “Ode to The Boudoir Divas,” my dream job. I plan to hang out with baby Harrison for a few months and then hope to return to the studio part time to do the really fun part.. photo shoots! I’m gonna keep praying for loads of business so that they can’t do without me :).
To the Founders: Marissa, Weston, Kimee, and Deena: Thanks for all the fun. Love you all.

We are super excited about the opening of Boudoir San Diego, Downtown’s newest and most provocative, exotic and sexy nightclub!  Our whole team is going to the official Grand Opening on Thursday, December 2nd.  You can check out details below or go to Discover SD’s website to RSVP.  Marissa and Kimberlee were invited to take a tour of the club before it opened and said it is AMAZING and unlike any other club in San Diego!

Here’s a description on the venue taken from their website: BOUDOIR is an intimate nightclub that follows an edgy, sexy theme spread over three levels that are rich with elaborate decor and atmosphere with sly nods to “Moulin Rouge” and “Chicago”. Boudoir challenges your senses from the moment you cross our threshold. You find yourself catching your breath, feeling your pulse quicken and with only a slight pause to accept the fact that this truly is something that San Diego has never seen before; You lunge forward with an excitement you haven’t felt in years!

As most of you know, October was Breast Cancer Awareness month. Participating in the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure is very important to me (Ashley) as I lost one of my Aunt’s to breast cancer and another one of my Aunt’s is a survivor. It is an amazing day, and anyone who has participated in a walk like this would agree. Leave it to San Diego to give us beautiful weather on this Sunday, November 7th, to walk with over 15,000 other fighters, survivors, and men, women, children and even dogs who have all been affected in one way or another by this all too common disease.

For the walk, I created a “Team Boudoir Divas”. Unfortunately, due to different circumstances, the actual employees walking only consisted of myself and our fabulous make up and hair stylist, Peggy. :) (Crystal “Slept in for the Cure” since she’s about to pop out her baby boy soon, and Marissa and Kimberlee were leaving for Uganda the following day). However, we still had an awesome team which consisted of my mom, sister and amazing friends: Stephanie, Kristen, Brittney, Sarah, Alicia, Eric, and Travis. Check out the pictures below!

First off:  I LOVE Jennifer Love Hewitt. Always have!  Ever since her “I Know What You Did Last Summer” days :). She has such a sweet and wholesome look/demeanor while being knock-out sexy at the same time.  We even have one of her music videos on our playlist.. “BareNaked”.. fitting, right ;)?  Anyway, I wanted to share this YouTube video of a recent interview with Maxim Magazine.
Her responses to the questions about her Maxim photo shoot(s) remind me so much of what many of our clients say about their photo shoots with us! She mentions that each photo shoot represents a different time in her life. A lot of our clients return for second and third shoots with us just for that reason. Every single photo shoot is different. Whether it be different sets and outfits, or a different hair style, the sky is the limit as far as variety!
I also couldn’t help but love her “See, Mom was hot one day” joke because so many women who do a boudoir shoot feel the same way! Almost every day, I hear women say they want to book their shoot with us before they start having babies. Of course, I just laugh whenever a girl says that. I can totally relate, but I also think women can be sexy at all ages :).
One other quote that stood out to me was, “It was really fun to see how sexy I could be for the day.” That is something I also think our clients can absolutely relate to! It is exactly what we mean when we use our “Supermodel for a day” tagline :).

All of us had such a blast at the San Diego Style Magazine party a couple weeks ago! As we walked up to the top floor of Downtown Hard Rock Hotel we were given a warm welcome from the soldiers working with Toys for Tots.  After the gift giving we immediately made our way to the food tables! There were so many delicious dishes and treats to choose from! My personal fave was the teriyaki hot dogs, which sound a little interesting but trust me, they are soooo good!  Definitely look into TK & A Custom Catering to see their awesome menu!  In between the food and treat tables, we managed to fit in some fun photo sessions! Get flipped had a had a really cool photo booth where they took two photos and turned them  into a plastic “flip photo.” Starlight Photo Booth was also there making everyone look like rock stars!! Both booths are a great addition to any wedding or party! Definitely check them out! Below are some of the crazy photos they took of us!!
