In an article done by the “Huffington Post” titled, “How I Learned to Love My Fat, Naked Body” (I think I would have given it an more positive title, but none the less) a woman talks about her journey in self acceptance…. read more below…
While packing for a recent shoot, I started playing dress up in my new lingerie from Hips & Curves. I couldn’t help but realize how much I love adorning my body with garments I used to fear. Frankly, I have always loved to be naked and lacked modesty at home, but never with a partner until my current one that is. The bigger I became, whether through having a son, trauma, etc., the thought of someone seeing my body, at what I used to consider “my worst” nearly brought me to tears.
Now I cannot imagine a life without cage bras (like the photos below taken tonight) corsets, negligees, or dare I say… bare. How did I get there, to a place of lingerie and self awareness heaven?
Even as a model, I still have a belly, cellulite, stretch marks, and thanks to nursing a son- not the perkiest boobs. However, that doesn’t devalue me at all. I think if anything, it makes my body more interesting. Like my tattoos, they tell a story and I can tell you where I was or how I was feeling at that moment, similar to when I look at my body. “This scar is from when I had a C-section.” “These scars are from crashing my bike on the gravel after not wearing a helmet even after my mother warned me multiple times.” “My stretch marks are from puberty, and many years after,” etc.
Our bodies tell a story, and everyone’s journey is different, everybody is different, unique, and exquisite. The only problem is that not everyone one respects that or comprehends that we don’t have to all look like a cookie cutter or perfect picture of “health.” We have so many forces around us that try and influence us otherwise. Why be our own worst enemy? Even if you don’t have a partner to dress up (or take it off) for, do it for yourself. Our relationships with ourselves and our bodies are the most important ones we will ever have.
You are worthy of feeling:
… AND BEAUTIFUL.

We certainly couldn’t agree more Tess! Thank you for inspiring all women to forget the scale and love themselves!
xoxo- Marissa and the Diva Team
Hello lovelies! This is Marissa writing for all of us here (often Sarah, Kimberlee and I share duties on the blogging). I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for taking the time to stop by our blog. Those of us that “work” here love what we do with tremendous zeal. We truly, truly believe that we are all uniquely created and all of us deserve to feel pampered, beautiful and glamorous, and that is the experience we hope to give. We want you to leave our studio invigorated and like you experienced what it was to fully embrace who you are in your own unique beautiful body.
When I read this quote by Maya Angelou a few years ago I thought, “That’s it! That’s why our studio is successful! Because we want this for ALL our clients! We want to be their cheerleaders, to make them feel amazing!”
We know we aren’t perfect, we are human, we do the best that we can here but that doesn’t mean we will occasionally drop the ball, BUT I can promise you this, WE CARE! We care so stinkin’ much about how you feel during your shoot and how you feel when you leave. We want you to cherish your photos so much that you show your Bombshell Book® to you grand daughters someday as they squeal “oh my gosh Grandma that was you , you did that!? You’re hot!!”
In all seriousness we just wanted to a moment and thank you all for trusting us. We know that having your photos taken is a scary thing, and the fact that we have a new timid client walking through the door every day, well that means that we are earning peoples’ trust, and we don’t take that for granted for a second. We are blessed because of you all, and because you tell your friends about us . THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS.
I just wanted to close with a thank you card that made all of us smile from ear to ear today.
“I just wanted to let you all know what a wonderful time I had with Peggy and Deena on Wednesday! Peggy not only did an amazing job with my hair and make up (I literally almost fell out of my seat when I looked in the mirror) but she was so comfortable and friendly that I immediately felt at ease – even though I was terrified. I knew, just from talking with her during my hair and makeup that I was going to love the rest of the day. As for Deena, if the rest of your photographers are half as incredible as her, I don’t know how you stand it! She was so confident in what would look good and immediately understood my comfort level, which put me at ease and made it so easy to trust her. I have never thought very highly of myself but she made me feel so freaking hot. And oh my gosh, when my photos came up on the screen, I was truly speechless. I was so speechless in fact that I think Deena assumed I didn’t like the photos – which couldn’t be further from the truth. In reality, I just didn’t know who the heck that girl in the photos was. I have always felt like a mousy and average girl but this women looking back at me from the TV was sexy and confident and could take on the world. Because of your studio, Peggy, and especially Deena, the girl who left there on Wednesday took a little of that woman with her. Thank you so much for your belief in beauty and confidence. I loved seeing all the quotes about it throughout the studio. You guys are amazing and truly have the most wonderful jobs in the whole world.”
Thank you Miss C, for your heartfelt testimonial. You ARE beautiful!
XOXO- The Divas
Thank you so much Kellene, (KellieMae) for not only flying all the way to us to attend our boudoir workshop and have a photo shoot, but then taking the time to write about your experience. Your heartfelt honesty was incredibly touching and I think everyone who reads your story will not only be moved, but also identify with it in some way or another. I am sure you would all agree when I say that when someone is candid and vulnerable with their emotions and experiences, it can be healing for us, the reader, as well. So thank you Kellene for sharing with us.
Here are a few snippets from her blog post …
“I cannot put into words how much this experience has meant to me or has changed the way I feel about myself. For the first time in almost 4 years, I am looking at myself through different eyes, and realizing that I am STILL beautiful. The death of my son robbed me of so many things that I didn’t realize until just recently, and to be able to look at my images and not just see myself as a “failure” is such a weight lifted off my shoulders. God works in incredible ways, and I know that my journey has been preparing me to help other women like myself, who have self-blame, self-doubt, and low self-esteem. I’ve seen the gift I’ve given my clients as I’ve watched them in awe over their own images. I’ve heard them say things like “I’ve never felt that beautiful EVER!” If I can give just one woman hope, then I have done His work.
To now have experienced it for myself, I know what power it truly has on a person. Despite some negative responses I’ve received this week about my line of work, I’m choosing to take the high road. Because frankly, until you’ve experienced what women like myself have, you will never comprehend the power of hope that images like these can give you.”
“So, a HUGE thank you to Denna, and the rest of the FABULOUS Boudoir Divas; for teaching amazing techniques, and above all, for doing His work in changing the lives of women, desperate to find the beauty that God has granted them… because all women are beautiful and all women should celebrate it. The wounds that these images have healed in me are beyond words. I can now look in the mirror and not just see a mother of a dead son, or the scarred up body of a mother who has been through traumatic births, but as the beautiful person I am, DESPITE the journey I’ve been through. I feel empowered and beyond blessed for this experience that God has so graciously bestowed upon me. Cheers and blessings to The Boudoir Divas… you truly are doing the work of His hands!”
We encourage you to take the time to read the full report of her personal account of her workshop and shoot experience on her blog. Kellene, thank you again. You are gorgeous inside and out and you look so radiant in your pics. PS. Your tattoos are HOT! (also another reason to visit her blog, check out those tats ;) )
I’m really excited to share this with you! A fabulous past client named Mary wrote me recently and let me know that she wanted to share about her experience with our studio. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to read what she thought about the experience – especially since Mary is a photographer herself (with White Peach Photo!) I love hearing what a boudoir photo shoot has done for a woman. Every client has a different story, and a different reason for why they are doing a boudoir shoot. I absolutely loved hearing Mary’s story. Thanks, Mary, for sharing! Go read about her experience with us!
I (Crystal) was emailing back and forth with a client yesterday regarding her order and at the end of an email wrote, “BTW, what did you think of your supermodel video? What did your hubby think of everything?!!” Her response is priceless….
My oh my, I can’t even replicate the sound that came out of his mouth when he saw the photos; it was like an animal growl. He loves LOVES them to say the least, as do I.
I know he thought I was beautiful before, but the level of sexiness and sex appeal that the photos show just brought it to a new level. And for once, I feel the way he sees me! I think as women it’s hard to see ourselves in that way when we look in the mirror because we see the everyday woman in looking back at us, with all of the things we dislike about ourselves. But for some reason, seeing myself in print was completely different; I didn’t see the things about myself I don’t like, I saw the whole package…and I love it! The airbrushing helps of course (lol) but even with the non-retouched images, it’s the same. I am so grateful for this experience. I am telling everyone I can about it and I really hope my friends get to experience the same thing at some point.
I haven’t given him the video or greeting card yet, I want to save those as little surprises on a random day or for a weekend alone without our kids =) but the Supermodel Video was so fun to watch and I like how it brings the photo session to life, it’s awesome.
I want everyone to know about your studio and what a PHENOMENAL job you women do at making other women feel as amazing as you made me feel =)
That is AMAZING! Wow, Jessica, you put it into words so well! It is wonderful to hear that you can see yourself through new eyes. The way you explain the end result is so powerful :). Thanks for sharing your experience.
Marissa just raved about how much she loved photographing Jessica’s Supermodel session. Check out some of Jessica’s album spreads!…
Our whole staff has sooo much fun each time we hold a Pin Up Party at our studio. All of the girls attending have so much positive energy that it feels like it projects onto us! The ladies are all dolled up with hair, make-up, heels, and sexy outfits, and are having a great time with their friends. My favorite part of the day is when I hear the group watching a slideshow of images from one of the girls’ photo shoot. You can hear anything from squeals of excitement to “oohs and ahhs” or “you look HOT!” and “you look beautiful!” I smile every time. The Pin Up Party we held about two weeks ago was no exception to this. The ladies were gorgeous and super sweet. The hostess sent me a little thank you email the next day and I wanted to share it along with a couple of group photos… xoxo, Crystal
P.S. I would also like to shout out a big THANK YOU to our fabulous stylists Peggy Rogers and Christa Thorton from Elite Salon who did the hair and make-up for the party!
Just wanted to thank you and your staff so much for the whole experience at our pin up party this past weekend (6/26/10). You ladies really made us feel comfortable and beautiful. All the girls were very pleased with everything from hair and make up to the actual photos. Can’t wait to see the final product!! Thank you again to you and your staff for a wonderful experience.

Last week, I had the distinct pleasure of photographing Gretchen’s boudoir session here at our San Diego boudoir studio… and let me just say, this gal is GORGEOUS! It was such a fun shoot… I did the photo session… Marissa was doing all of the video shooting… and then we had a lot of fun putting together her Cinema Short! Gretchen also sent us the SWEETEST email after her shoot (read her testimonial underneath the video). Thanks so much, Gretchen, for coming in for your boudoir shoot with us, and thank you SOOOO much for letting us post your images & video!
I just wanted to thank you all so much for one of the most memorable experiences of my life! I had no idea when I booked my photo shoot with The Boudoir Divas that every expectation I had would be exceeded. I came in from Arizona especially for my shoot, and from the moment I pulled in to my cute VIP parking space, I felt like a star! I am a stay-at-home mommy who is lucky to put on a little mascara on a good day, so I definitely loved starting my shoot getting pampered by Peggy while sipping a glass of champagne :) . She made me feel right at home and my hair and make-up were exactly what I had envisioned.
I was a little nervous starting my shoot, but my photographer, Kimberlee, and videographer, Marissa, made me feel super-comfortable. With their helpful tips for cute poses, I felt like a pro in no time :) . I had a blast on the different sets (all gorgeous!) and by the end of the shoot, I was feeling so sexy, sassy and confident! Kimberlee’s photos just blew me away, and I can’t wait to see the video footage. These are two very talented women.
The icing on the cake was meeting with Ashley for the viewing of my proofs. When the very first image came on the screen, I was speechless. I never, ever thought I would be able to say I loved so many pictures of myself…..Ashley, thank you for your expertise- I know I was so indecisive :) !
I viewed my album proof today and again was so incredibly happy with the photos and design. Deena did a phenomenal job of putting it together. It looks exactly the way I want it, and I wouldn’t change a thing. I also wanted to give a special shout-out to Crystal. I must have called her at least a dozen times to go over ideas, suggestions, and information, and she was extremely helpful and sweet.
I can’t wait for my husband to see the album!! I just know he’s going to absolutely LOVE it. I am beyond happy, and I just wanted you all to know how special of an experience this was for me. Everyone and everything at Boudoir Divas was top-notch. I kept telling myself during the shoot to soak in every moment because this was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Ha, not quite….once I viewed my photos, I decided I want to come back after the next baby :) ! A million thanks to the best team of women- you ladies are awesome!

So we are putting together a section of our website to empower women to go ahead and book their shoot, to get them to push away any insecurities they may have. We would love to hear from past clients specifically what was the most fun part about your shoot. Please help us, help other girls to push them self to do this rewarding experience. Feel free to leave your comments below and we will grab them. Thank you!
Rachel came all the way out from Texas to get her Boudoir Shoot done here in San Diego.. WOW! We had so much fun! After finally getting to the studio, she was able to let go of everything back home and be Sexy for a day. After her shoot, she ordered a Pizza to celabrate an amazing day. When her slideshow of proofs from her shoot was over, she was in tears!!!! Happy tears of course :) Her photos are BEAUTIFUL! Rachel, it was so wonderful to meet you and I can’t wait till you have your album in hand. XO,
